Eclipse Consulting therefore promotes sustainable agricultural practices by sharing knowledge and skills that enables smallholder farmers to increase their productivity, improve quality, enhance market value of their crops, and meet the economic and nutritional needs of families and communities.
We provide services, linkages to off takers, access to inputs, markets and information on climate-smart agriculture. We work with smallholder farmers, including women and youth, in the area of crop and animal production, increasing income along the agriculture value chains. Our approach is Making Markets Work for the Poor (M4P).
Our homestead farming and nutrition interventions in vegetables have helped to improved nutrition requirements and address malnutrition especially amongst children and families.
We have experience working with samallholder farmers disenfranchised by conflict in the Northeast focusing on legumes and cereals namely: millet, sorghum, soybeans, maize, rice cowpea, and groundnuts.
Eclipse Consulting also manages a microcredit scheme for market women. We recognize that poor rural women and men depend on agriculture: 70 per cent of rural people are subsistence smallholder farmers, who produce some 90 per cent of Nigeria’s food on un-irrigated plots wholly dependent on rainfall.
Eclipse Consulting intervention strategy ranges from setting up and strengthening farmers’ organizations; support and empowerment of poor rural people, especially women and young people through training and capacity building interventions financial inclusions and community-driven development initiatives.
